Dental Care for Dogs

August 10, 2012

Do you take your dog to a dentist? Of course not! But you should be keeping their teeth healthy because lack of dental care in dogs can cause oral disease as early as their third birthday. We know what it is like to have a toothache, not fun right? Well, your furry friend can get them too and much worse.

You should start your dogs dental care as a pup by having regular examinations and cleanings done by your vet. Dental care should not only take place at  the vet but at home too. Like humans, dogs need there teeth brushed regularly with special toothpaste and a toothbrush (Although a regular toothbrush will work as well). Okay pups, say cheese!

The health of dogs is a well studied area in veterinary medicine. Infectious diseases that affect dogs are important not only from a veterinary standpoint.
